Special Education at Heliomare in Heemskerk
Heliomare is a special education school for students aged 4 to 13 with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, Severe Multiple Disability (SMD), long-term illness and/or a form of autism.
At Heliomare in Heemskerk, the potential of children and young adults is the main focus of the school. Both, the curriculum and the rehabilitation treatment program are adapted to the capacity of each individual child, whether he/she is severely limited or has learning difficulties. Teaching and development material is presented in such a way that it incites interest and stimulates development. Children are also challenged to be active, both during treatment and playtime.
Tarkett’s heterogeneous vinyl Acczent Excellence 80 flooring with a wood design was selected for its professional look and its radiant and soothing properties. It was installed by G&S Tilburg an outside contractor.
“The Tarkett flooring not only has a pleasant appearance, but it is also maintenance-friendly. This is important for a building that is used as intensely as ours. The cleaning protocol guarantees that the flooring will still look new, even after extreme usage. In fact, we are so pleased that we will be using Tarkett floors in other locations as well.”
